We work with high quality subcontractors to provide an array of services aimed at helping us determine whether contamination is present and, if identified, the extents of the contamination. Empower is well-versed in requirements set forth in NJDEP's Field Sampling Procedures Manual related to different media. We can assist with the following services related to the SI/RI process:
- Conduct a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey to assess for potential underground features, like underground storage tanks (USTs), and clear proposed boring locations prior to drilling.
- Advance soil borings, classify soil lithology, field screen recovered soils, and collect representative soil samples.
- Install temporary wells and collect representative groundwater samples. Water Quality Indicator Parameters (WQIPs) can be collected to evaluate groundwater conditions.
- Install permanent monitoring wells including monitoring well development.
- Perform groundwater sampling of permanent monitoring wells using the volume average purge (VAP) methodology.
- If a Vapor Intrusion (VI) trigger exists at the site, we can collect sub-slab soil gas, indoor air, and ambient air samples. Empower is well-versed with the NJDEP's Vapor Intrusion Technical Guidance Document and observes all required field procedures such as constructing the sample train, conducting a shut-in test, and leak testing the annular seal.
- If additional site characterization is required, Empower has experience overseeing and directing Membrane Interface Probe (MIP) investigations.
